Synopsis: The Context of White Supremacy hosts the fifth study session on one of the top selling books of all time, The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told To Alex Haley (1965). With all the commentary on the 50 year anniversary of Selma, itโs telling that few have mentioned Minister Malcolm traveled to Alabama to speak with young black protesters. Itโs reported that many of the black people in attendance were pleased with what he had to say. The ongoing crisis in Ferguson, the Wisconsin police shooting, and the Racist conflagration at the University of Oklahoma illustrate the relevance and urgency of El Hajj Malik Shabazzโs work. Last weekโs segment tracked Minister Malcolmโs conviction and adjustment to greater confinement. He described being referenced as โSatanโ for his merciless tirades against Christianity (White Jesus). However, with the help of his family and a fellow black inmate, he began to reflect on his conduct, his life in general, and White people. He recognized his pitiful vocabulary and began to consider the spiritual system of Islam. As we continue, listeners are advised to keep this text in mind when searching for patience to share with black people.
