Synopsis:The Context of White Supremacy hosts the eighth study session on one of the most widely read publications of all time, The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told To Alex Haley (1965). A half century after the assassination of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, his courageous, passionate voice continue to inspire and inform. The war against black people that Minister Malcolm devoted his life to opposing remains; the relevance of his life and work evidenced daily. Last week’s session offered additional details on Minister Malcolm’s critiques of other black people – particularly the organizers of the March On Washington. He championed #BlackSelfRespect and as much independence from Racists as possible. He insisted that increased contact with Whites appealed to few black people. He once again spent a considerable amount of time discouraging sexual intercourse between Whites and non-white people. Tellingly, Minister Malcolm minced no words, spared no feelings when verbally attacking other black people, but expressed regret and worry for the feelings of a random White Woman who wanted to “help.” As we continue, listeners are advised to keep this text in mind when searching for patience to share with black people.
